BRITISH SPORTS BY JON


1. Hockey
The game of hockey is 200 years old. It became very popular in English public school in the 19th century. Girls used to play hockey at school, while boys played rugby, football and cricket. But today boys and girls play hockey at school.

2.Rugby
Rugby is very popular in Britain, France, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and... the Basque country!







3. Football
People started  playing football in the 1100s, but public schools were the responsible for making the game into an organized team sport.




 4. Netball
Girl play netball at school. It is the British version of the               American game basketball, but for girls. They play without backbard. Over twenty million people play netball in more than seventy countries.
