WELCOME TO INDIA by Sara


India was a former British colony. There are a lot of exotic palaces, colourful clothes, spicy food and sacred cows.
THE TAJ MAHAL:
It was built in the 1600s. This palace was a mausoleum for the emperador's favourite wife. 20,000 workers worked in the Taj Mahal. They took 22 years doing it.
THE SARI:
It's a traditional dress for the women's. It is very long. For the special ocasions, are often decorated.

CRICKET:
It's a national sport. The British introduced it in India. India is one of the few countries in the world where cricket is popular.

SCHOOL:
The children wear an uniform. They speak English and Hindi. The Hindi is the India's official lenguage. There are almost 1 million of schools in India. They go to the school until the age of 14.
GANESH:
It is one of the gods. The religion is called Hindu. He has got an elephant trunk, big ears and a fat stomach. It is the god of the good fortune, education, wealth and wisdom.

SACRED COW:
It's a sacred animal for the Hindu people. They respect these animals and they don't eat beef.
