The snowy owl Nicole C.

This animal is snow owl.

They live in the Artic. Because there aren't trees in polars regions, their nests are on the ground or on rocks. Sometimes they use abandoned eagles nests.


The eyes of snowy owls are yellow and they 
have black beaks. They are 
between 52 cm and 71 cm long and weigh between 1.6 and 3 kilos. They have thick feathers on their feet, so they are well-adapted to life in the Artic. Adult males are white.
Females are white with brown marks. Their babies are pure white when they are born. Howerer, whe they get a bit older, their feathers are marked.

Snowy owls lay between 5 and 14 eggs. the eggs are laid singly, approximately every other day over several days. The baby birds are born abaut five weeks later. Both parets defend the nest and their babies.
Snowy owles live in the Articin summer and in Canada in winter.
The snowy owl is the official bird of the city of Quebec in canada.

Snowy owls are carnivores. They eat rodents and birds. the heed to eat between seven to twelve nace or other o rey every day. like many other birds, they swallow their prey whole.
