BRITISH SPORTS BY LUCAS AND JULIO

                                                               HOCKEY
The game of  hockey is 200 years old.
Girls used to play hockey at school,  while boys played cricket.

Today boys and girls play hockey at school.

The goal keeper has got protection on the head, hands, legs, feet and body. 
                                                                                                   

CRICKET

  • A cricket match can last 5 days! 
  • Cricket started  in the 16th century. 
  • Although it is very popular in Britain , about ten countries in the world play professional cricket.

                                           RUGBY

Although games similar to rugby were played a very long time ago, people say that rugby began at rugby public school in the town of rugby in the county of Warwickshire. Rugby is very  popular in Britain, France, South Africa, New Zealand , Australia and ...the Basque country.


                                 FOOTBALL

People started playing football in the 1100s, but public schools were the ones responsible for making the game into an organised team sport. Public schools encouraged their pupils to play football because it kept the boys fit and made them competitive.



                                  Netball ( similar to basketball )

         The goal  rings are on  posts about 3 metres high and  they            do not have a backboard. Over twenty million people play              netball in more than seventy countries.

                              HIGH JUMP

The first recorded high jump event took place in Scotland in the 19th century. The high jump is an Olympic sport. The men´s world high jump record is 2,45 metres. The women´s high jump record is 2.06 metres
