Garfield is a cat born in the kitchen of an Italian restaurant in a winter night in 1978, while outside snow fell like parmesan cheese. Garfield loves lassagna.

 Garfield lives with his  owner John and his dog Odie. The owner of the restaurant, with the obligation to choose between Garfield and closing his doors for business for lack of cooking pasta, sold the cat to a pet shop.

Garfield thought he was going to be a homeless the rest of his life, but one day John crossed his way.

The newspaper comic strip on Mondays to Saturday appeared in full colour from June 7, 1999.The comic strip became a special cartoon for televison in 1982 called "Here Comes Garfield."
