ANIMALS IN THE USA

RACCOONS

Raccoons live in forest they are nocturnal animals. They ate between 40 and 70 cm long,not including their tails which are about 25 cm long.

They are omnivorous. In the spring and summer they eat insects,worms and other animals. In the late summer and in autumn,they like eating fruits and nuts.

BALD EAGLES

Bald eagles live near the sea,lakes or rivers because their main diet is fish. However they also eat birds and mammals,such as rabbits and raccoons. They are the symbol of the USA and cand be found of official seals and on some coins.

PRAIRIE DOGS

Prairie dogs live on the grasslands or prairie. They bark like dogs. They mainly eat plants but they eat some insects. They live in colonies and are very social

animals. They visit other prairie dogs and greet each

other with a sort of kiss.

ALLIGATORS

Alligators are reptiles. They live in rivers and lakes. An adult con weigh between 360 and 450 kilos and is about 4 meters long. We live for about fifty years. The name alligator comes from Spanish word “lagarto”which Spanish explores and settles in Florida called them.
